Selection Criteria and Statement of Faith

The Jeremy Marshall Gospel Fund: Selection Criteria

The Jeremy Marshall Gospel Fund exists to support work that initiates evangelism.

We fund Christian individuals, churches, ministries and charities whose work helps people hear the gospel of Jesus Christ, supports the raising and equipping of evangelists, and strengthens evangelistic witness in strategic settings.

Our governing question is simple:

Will this help more people hear about Jesus?

If the answer is unclear, the application is unlikely to be right for us. If the answer is strong, specific and compelling, we would be glad to consider it.

We are particularly interested in work that does one or more of the following:

  1. Raising and Equipping Evangelists: Supporting individuals with a clear evangelistic calling through training, mentoring, development or ministry opportunity.
  1. Reaching Business Communities with the Gospel: Engaging business leaders, professionals, and workplace communities with the Christian faith.
  1. Strengthening Evangelistic Confidence: Helping churches, ministries and leaders become clearer, braver and more effective in communicating Christ.
  1. Extend Jeremy’s Evangelistic Legacy: Including work that uses Jeremy’s testimony and writing to open conversations about suffering, hope, faith and Christ.

What we are looking for:

Applicants must be Christian individuals, churches, or Christian charities with a clear evangelistic focus

Projects which align with at least one of the four funding areas above

Applicants who demonstrate a clear plan for using the funds effectively, including expected outcome

Applicants able to provide appropriate accountability and reporting mechanisms

Preference may be given to projects that demonstrate innovation, collaboration, and long-term sustainability

We welcome applications from those who have already identified part of their funding requirements and are seeking additional support to complete their project

Applicants must be willing and able to sign up to the Jeremy Marshall Gospel Fund Statement of Faith

Application Rounds and Deadlines

The Giving Committee meets three times per year. Applications must be submitted by the deadlines set to be considered in the funding round:

Round Deadline Committee Meeting

Late or incomplete applications will not be considered.

Jeremy Marshall Gospel Fund Statement of Faith

All applicants to the Jeremy Marshall Gospel Fund must be willing and able to affirm the following Statement of Faith, which reflects a historic, biblical, and conservative Christian perspective:

1. The Bible

We believe that the Bible, consisting of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. It is the final authority in all matters of faith, doctrine, and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:16, Hebrews 4:12, Psalm 12:6, Matthew 22:29, Mark 7:6-8, Luke 6:46, 2 Peter 1:21)

2. The Trinity

We believe in one God, eternally existent in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. These three are co-equal and co-eternal. (Matthew 28:19, 1 Corinthians 8:6, Deuteronomy 6:4, Matthew 3:16-17)

3. Jesus Christ

We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, His virgin birth, His sinless life, His miracles, His substitutionary and atoning death on the cross, His bodily resurrection, His ascension to the right hand of the Father, and His personal and imminent return in power and glory. (John 1:14, Luke 1:26-38, 1 Corinthians 15:3-4, Acts 1:9-11, Hebrews 7:25)

4. Salvation

We believe that salvation is by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone. All people are sinners by nature and in need of salvation, which can only be obtained through repentance and personal faith in Jesus Christ as Lord and Saviour. (Ephesians 2:8-9, Romans 3:23-24, John 14:6, Acts 4:12)

5. The Holy Spirit

We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit, who indwells and empowers all believers to live a godly life, bear witness to Christ, and exercise spiritual gifts in accordance with Scripture. (John 14:16-17, Acts 1:8, Galatians 5:22-23, 1 Corinthians 12:4-11)

6. The Church

We believe in the spiritual unity of all true believers in Jesus Christ, who together form the universal Church. The local church exists to glorify God, preach the gospel, make disciples, administer baptism and the Lord’s Supper, and care for one another. (Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 2:42-47, Ephesians 4:11-16, 1 Corinthians 12:12-27)

7. Marriage, Sexuality, and Family

We believe that marriage is a lifelong, exclusive union between one man and one woman, as ordained by God. Sexual intimacy is a gift from God to be enjoyed only within the covenant of marriage. We affirm the sanctity of human life from conception and the biblical design of male and female. (Genesis 1:26-27, Genesis 2:24, Matthew 19:4-6, Psalm 139:13-16)

8. The Return of Christ and Final Judgment

We believe in the personal and visible return of Jesus Christ, who will judge the living and the dead. Those who have trusted in Him will enter into eternal life, while those who have rejected Him will face eternal separation from God. (Matthew 25:31-46, 1 Thessalonians 4:16-17, Revelation 20:11-15, 2 Thessalonians 1:7-10)

9. The Great Commission

We believe that all believers are called to share the gospel and make disciples of all nations. Evangelism and mission work are essential to the church’s obedience to Christ. (Matthew 28:19-20, Acts 1:8, Romans 10:14-15)
By applying for a grant, applicants confirm their agreement with this Statement of Faith and affirm that their organisation, church, or ministry operates in accordance with these biblical principles.
